REALLY USEFUL SOFTWARE FOR ARCHITECTS

DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1 On the web page, click the appropriate link. Choose to save to disk. The download can take about 15 minutes – depending on many factors. Please make a note of where you are saving them to i.e. Desktop

2 When the download is complete look for the downloaded file and double-click the icon of the self-extracting .exe files. This should send three files to one of the following folders:

sap516.exe C:\sapdownload

sap616.exe C:\sap6download

dew21.exe C:\dewdownload

rads21.exe C:\radsdownload

botd21.exe C:\botddownload

stairs6.exe C:\stairsdownload

Eco1.exe c:\ecodownload

Aco21.exe c:\acodownload

3 Go to the appropriate folder and you should see three files

4 Look for the “setup” icon (computer screen) double-click it. This will start the Setup Wizard and will send all the files to their appropriate folders:

Sapper version 5 C:\sapper5

Sapper version 6 C:\sapper6

Dewpoint version 2 C:\dew2

Rads1 c:\rads

Rads2 C:\rads2

BOTD version 2 C:\botd

Stairs C:\stairs

EcoHomes C:\eco

Acoustics c:\acoustics

If you have previously installed the program you may be required to choose “No to all” in order to overwrite all previous program files. (This will not change your personal files)

You should now have successfully installed the program(s).

You can run the program(s) from the Start button/Programs/Architects software.

You can make icons on your desktop by right clicking somewhere on the screen, chose “new” choose “shortcut”, type in the path e.g. c:\sapper6\sap6.exe or c:\rads2\rads2.exe

NB. The Microsoft Setup Wizard will not work with some computers due to an out of date file. If you experience this problem with Sapper, the following procedure should work: (For other programs change the folder names as above.)

Go to My computer and look for the folder e.g. c:\sap6download. Open it and double-click the .CAB file it to open it.

Go to Edit and Select All.

Go to Edit and Copy to folder.

In the browse screen, highlight Local disk C. Click New Folder. Change the name from New Folder the folder as above.

Open folder and look for install.bat icon and double-click it.

This should have put all the files in the correct places.

To start the program, create a shortcut on the desktop using the path e.g. c:\sapper6\sap6.exe. or, from Start / Run type in the path.
